Kat-Net Part 7: Speedtalk Mobile

Speedtalk Mobile as a Service Provider

I chose Speedtalk Mobile as a service provider to get a SIM card for the modem device, mainly because it was available cheaply on Amazon and did seem to provide a reasonable service. Ideally the SIM is contract free, but they did require a Credit Card number to activate and implied that this would setup a recurring billing. Although I'm not totally happy about having to set up a recurring bill payment, it seems like it should be easy enough to cancel.

$8/GB was a great price and very cheap to get started testing, but it unfortunately is very low amount of data. I used up 60% by simply watching one 1080p half-hour video on YouTube.

SpeedTalk is also providing an additional free 30 days to consumers on Amazon in exchange for sharing 5 star reviews which is both against the ToS of Amazon as well as an unethical practice. That being said, it works well enough for my purposes to get another free month for testing.
